Bright market stall canopies will be once again be fluttering in the breeze on Wednesdays and Saturdays down Camden Passage this spring as part of our bid to attract even more shoppers and tourists to the area.
Angel BID has funded eight new covered stalls along the passage past The Camden Head pub to tidy up the market and enable pavement sellers to display their vintage clothes, antiques and curiosities to greater effect on a higher level.
The new all-weather awnings will enhance the general trading environment for everyone, mean traders can be better regulated and can guarantee to be there every week, so building up a regular clientele.
To further smarten up the area for residents and businesses alike, Islington Council have responded to campaigning from Angel BID and are renovating the wrought-iron railings outside Colinsdale House, the flats halfway along the passage.
“We are pleased to be working together with the council to smarten up Camden Passage and enhance this historic area for everyone who lives and works here,” says Angel BID Director Christine Lovett.
“The passage has a worldwide reputation for its eclectic mix of antiques, specialist businesses, and quirky small shops – not to mention great places to eat and one of the BID’s key objectives is to show more and more people that it’s really worth a visit.”
