Look out for flowers springing from the lamp posts

Flowers, flowers everywhere and soon they’ll be coming to a lamp post near you as we enter into the spirit of Islington in Bloom by brightening up the boundary of our BID area with blossoming hanging baskets.

hanging basket Angel BID is funding 50 hanging flower baskets (and people to water them) which we are hanging (where possible) from lamp posts in streets including Penton Street, White Lion Street, Upper Street, Theberton Street, Camden Passage and St John Street. There will also be displays to cheer up the dismal centre section of Upper Street.

“Everyone loves flowers and we thought it would be a good idea not only to make the BID area feel brighter and more cheerful but also to mark out the boundary of the area so people can see where we begin and end,” says Angel BID Director Christine Lovett. “Any businesses who feel like joining us in celebrating summer and putting flower baskets outside their business would be much appreciated.

It’s all in the spirit of brightening up the Angel BID area and complementing Islington Council’s floral displays as part of this year’s Islington in Bloom competition encouraging local gardeners to display their green-fingered talents while making the area a more attractive and greener place to work.
