Angel BID has recently installed the plastics recycling bins you’ll see in McDonald’s restaurant in Chapel Market for all the throwaway cups, cutlery and straws as part of our drive to encourage everyone to recycle more and make the BID area cleaner and more attractive.
More rubbish is left in Chapel Market than anywhere else locally, as it’s our busiest street, and we’re trying to get all street traders, shops and businesses thinking about how they can recycle more of their waste.
Angel BID has ordered a cardboard recycling trolley to fit between and behind all the stalls in the market which will soon be coming up and down the market at regular intervals collecting cardboard from stallholders and storing it until it’s collected by our waste contractors Enterprise, who have agreed to make an extra daily collection to make sure it’s all picked up.
“Recycling improves our green credentials and also makes the area a nicer place to visit so we must all get on board,” says Angel BID Director Christine Lovett. “There’s nothing more unattractive than litter strewn streets and we are doing our best to improve the cleanliness and general tidiness of the BID area.”
